Summer Camp Adds A New Two-Week Session

Posted by on December 22, 2014

We haven’t been blogging much since summertime, but all that’s about to change. Now that this shiny new website is up and running, you can expect to see the blog updated more often, so please check back often to see what’s new at camp.

Camp is growing fast, but don’t worry, there will still be plenty of room in the Jacuzzi swimming hole.

The Blog isn’t the only thing that’s about to change around here either. We’ve got great news! Starting this summer, Moose River Outpost will be running for 3 sessions instead of just two! For years, we’ve had to goal of expanding the camp – not filling it to overflowing, but instead growing the ministry.

Transitioning to 6 weeks will allow us to grow the MRO family, while still keeping individual sessions small. This allows us to preserve what makes MRO great – small cabin groups, close personal connections with counselors, and a tight-knit family feel.

Thank you so much to all those of you who have introduced friends to MRO, convinced siblings to try it out, and come back year after year yourselves to make the MRO family not just larger, but rich with friendships and years of shared memories.

Please keep spreading the word, and remember, this year you’ll got more choices when it comes time to register!

Winter Reunion

Posted by on December 22, 2014

This year things will be a bit different… but in a good way.  We will be having our winter reunion way down in the balmy south at Brookwoods and Deer Run. Why?  Because MRO has been closed up for the winter and there will be no heat or running water (two necessary items). So please join us as we celebrate camp and the new year together.  It is sure to be a special time.

REGISTRATION COST: $115.00 per person for the Reunion.

TRANSPORTATION COSTS: $45.00 for transportation by bus from Lexington or by van from Manchester or Logan Airports.

ARRIVE : Plan to arrive between 7:00 and 8:00pm on the 31st. Dinner will NOT be served at camp, so please eat before you arrive.

DEPART: The reunion will end at 2:00pm on Friday, January 2nd.

WHO WILL BE THERE: All your friends and many counselors from camp this past summer.

WHAT TO BRING: Sleeping bags, your Bible, your journal, lots of warm clothes, and your toothbrush!

5 Reasons Setting up a Christmas Tree Reminds Us of Camp

Posted by on December 3, 2014

1. That smell. Its fresh, cool, and clean. Its just like camp. Except for the boys cabins. Other than that it’s just like camp.

2. Those pine needles that always find their way into the waist of your pants while you hang the lights… ugh. It reminds us of building that debris hut at Survival. Shower time.

3. A Christmas tree is best enjoyed with a cup of hot chocolate. We’ll admit it. Camp is best enjoyed that way too. Just remember to clean up the Swiss Miss wrappers when you’re done.

IMG_11384. A tree now means a great bonfire later. Better warm up your singing voice…

5. The glass balls make me think of trench dodgeball. Is that bad?

MRO family, we miss you.  As you enjoy the Christmas season, we encourage you to stay away from the malls and box stores, and find yourself some fresh cut authenticity this December.  Remember Jesus loves you more than you can imagine, and remember that your friends at MRO can’t wait to see you at the Winter Reunion, or back at camp.
